Abstract
Squamous cell carcinoma of the lower lip is a common tumor; as a result, resection of part or all of the lower lip is frequently required. However, successful reconstruction of a lower lip is a difficult and intriguing problem. At least eighty procedures have been described for repair of the lower lip following cancer ablation and the numbers indicates short-comings in most. The ideal procedure should produce " a normal-looking, not-too-tight lip, with a vermillion border, an adequate sulcus, good sensation and good muscle tone." It must be aesthetically pleasing and fuctionally able to permit chewing, prevent drooling, and perform labial consonant formation.

Recently authors have satisfactorily reconstructed a total loss of lower lip after cancer resection using Gillies ¡¯fan-flap¡¯ procedure, and the case is presented with reviewing the literatures.
